Composition of Zinc Alloy
Zinc alloy, is a colored alloy composed of zinc as a matrix with other elements such as aluminum, copper, and magnesium. Zinc alloys are blue-white at room temperature, shiny and hard and brittle. The melting point of the zinc alloy is about 380 °C and the casting temperature is between 440 and 460 °C.
Zinc alloy classification
Zinc alloys for casting can be divided into two categories: die-cast alloys and gravity casting alloys. At present, there are two major categories of standard series used as castings in the world:
1. ZA series zinc alloy, generally used for gravity casting
2. ZAMAK alloy, developed before the ZA series alloys, mainly for pressure casting.
ZAMAK alloy: ZAMAK 2, ZAMAK 3, ZAMAK 5, ZAMAK 7 models, ZAMAK 3 zinc alloy is more suitable for crafts, jewelry casting.
ZAMAK 3 Zinc alloy element content reference: zinc more than 96 %, aluminum 3.9-4 .3 %, magnesium 0.025-0 .05 %, copper ≤ 0.10 %, iron ≤ 0.075 %, tin ≤ 0.002 %, lead ≤ 0.004 %, cadmium ≤ 0.003 %.
